Mark F. Duckitt

Mark qualified as an attorney in South Africa in 1997 and as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2001. He founded Eco Impact, a legal consultancy in 2008 and developed Eco Impact’s unique online content management systems. He is also a lead Environmental, Health and Safety Systems and Legal Compliance Auditor. He has significant experience in environmental and health and safety law and legal compliance and has been invited as a guest speaker at numerous conferences and has lectured at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. Mark has been involved in a number of sustainability projects, including the assessment of group sustainability for one of the largest food producers in South Africa. He was also instrumental in developing the sustainability component of South Africa’s Rugby World Cup 2023 bid. Mark has been trained by the British Standards Institute (BSI) (London) in the implementation of ISO 20121.

Alex Hetherington

Co-founder of Carbon Calculated, Alex has extensive experience assisting large institutions to conduct climate change risk and opportunity analyses. Following an early career in environmental communications, he directed his energies into corporate environmental sustainability, primarily focused on developing and implementing strategies to drive environmental best practices within organisations. Apart from preparing and verifying carbon footprints, Alex provides a broad range of consulting services in environmental policy development and implementation, including impact measurement, benchmarking and advising on cost-cutting opportunities. Alex also helps clients respond to government policies and discussion papers regarding the environment. Alex holds a BA degree from the University of Cape Town and an MSc in Environmental Management from Imperial College, University of London. Alex was lead on the carbon component of South Africa’s Rugby World Cup 2023 bid process. Alex has been trained by the British Standards Institute (BSI) (London) in the implementation of ISO 20121.

Murray C. Bolton

Bio

Murray is the founder of MPlus Consulting (Pty) Ltd and works as an Outsourced CFO for a number of SME’s in the entrepreneurial sector in Cape Town. Murray has over twenty years of experience in financial and business management having worked as a financial manager in London, financial director for a medical device company in Johannesburg and as a financial director of a national motor dealership based in Cape Town. Apart from general financial management, Murray has been responsible for accounting systems, I.T., and business intelligence, as well as the staffing and management of financial teams. Murray holds a B. Com from Wits University and is certified as a General Tax Practitioner (SA) with the South African Institute of Tax Professionals (SAiT). He is also a Xero Certified Advisor. Murray has been trained by the British Standards Institute (BSI) (London) in the implementation of ISO 20121.

Jessica Le Roux

Jessica is a SACNASP registered Professional Natural Scientist in the field of Environmental Science (Registration number 400192/16). Jessica holds a BSc (Honours) in Environmental and Geographical Science from the University of Cape Town as well as an MSc from the same institution. Jessica headed up the Eco Impact training department and has extensive environmental experience as a Senior Environmental Assessment Practitioner. She has also completed the year-long United Nations Industrial Development Organization Certified Energy Expert course and now specializes in ISO50001, the International Standard for Energy Management Systems. Jessica has also been extensively involved in a number of sustainability projects, including the assessment of group sustainability for one of largest food producers in South Africa and as part of the team servicing the sustainability component of South Africa’s Rugby World Cup 2023 bid process. Jessica has been trained by the British Standards Institute (BSI) (London) in the implementation of ISO 20121.
